The Marvel Universe is an extraordinarily successful media franchise. The shared universe is built on a series of superhero films, TV series, video games, and merchandise. All of which are based on characters that originally appeared in American comic books. Marvel Entertainment, LLC, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company.
Most people think of Captain America, also known as Steve Rogers, as the first Marvel hero- but it is not true! Marvel Comics used to operate under the name Timely Publications, which published Marvel Comics #1 featuring Human Torch. In 2008, Marvel released their first film in Phase one of the three phases of The Infinity Saga, “Iron Man”. The “Iron Man” film went on to gross more than $500 million dollars at the box office. Then came “Black Panther”, a phase three release, which did over $1.3 Billion dollars. With Marvel’s dedicated fan base and the draw of new young fans discovering the superheroes’ continuous storylines; the Marvel franchise will live on for generations to come.
