Trivia questions are delivered via email or can be downloaded in .xls files or tab-delimited text files (other formats (json..) are available upon request). Below are some descriptions and samples (download below) of the formatting that we use in our database:

Unique Question IDs:

Each trivia question and/or factoid is given a unique ID number from our database. We keep track of all deliveries to our customers so that upon re-ordering, you will not receive any duplicates.

Difficulty Rankings:

We tag each question with a difficulty ranking as a guideline to compare questions within a category. Questions are sorted by category, and the difficulty rankings assume that the player/reader has selected or is targeted to the category. In most instances, the player/ reader has some basic knowledge of facts related to the category. We come up with the rankings by using our database and our experience. Rankings are determined by the history that we have collected through testing our pool of quiz takers. In the case of newly written or custom categories, we ask our experienced trivia editors or writers to assign a ranking. The rankings are as follows:

  • 1 = Easy (Most people will get these correct, “no brainers” in some cases)
  • 2 = Medium (Some knowledge about the subject is required)
  • 3 = Hard (Difficult to very difficult for most people)

Zones:

Our database is organized into three main zones, with each question tagged by its respective zone. We also offer a “General Trivia” category, which combines questions from all three zones.

  • Entertainment Zone
  • Sports Zone
  • General Knowledge Zone

Categories:

Under each zone is a more descriptive category to which each question is assigned. Examples of  Zone – Category :

  • Entertainment – Movies
  • Entertainment – TV
  • Sports – Basketball
  • Sports – Baseball
  • General Knowledge – Science
  • General Knowledge – History

Subcategories:
Under each Category is a targeted zone in which each question can be assigned. There are 1000s of possible Subcategories, and we can suggest them for you, or we can work with your idea for bespoke content. Some content can belong to more than one Subcategory (you will never receive duplicate questions). Examples of Subcategories:

  • Entertainment – Music – Rap
  • Entertainment – TV – 80s Sitcoms
  • Sports – Basketball – NY Knicks
  • Sports – Baseball – World Series
  • General Knowledge – Science – Green Technology
  • General Knowledge – History – World History
